Screamed my one and only Jamie Lee Curtis scream when I nearly stepped on a 3 1/2 - 4’ black snake as it was looking for me keys in my purse. It was curled up sunning itself on my front door mat. I scared the crap out of it, it reared its body up and crawled away so fast I barely saw it leave! I had always been terrified of snakes since my brother asked if I wanted to see what he had found. Many face was nearly level with the top whenBrian lifted the lid on the small garbage can we used for lawn clippings. A maybe 18” garden snake had crawled to the top and I was face to face with the thing! Guess I screamed pretty loudly that time too. Our family was the one everyone else gave their animals too when they were being reassigned to another base. We had nearly everything, but a snake. That led to my overwhelming fear of snakes. And then a couple of years ago my husband found Naked & Afraid which shows a lot of snakes. Eastern Indigo snakes are so pretty, not so afraid anymore. Respectful.

Youre exactly right abt it being slow moving and non aggressive, but it's a GABOON VIPER!! It's fangs are 2 inches long (biggest of all snakes) and it delivers more venom in one bite than any other snake known!! My BIL was obsessed with snakes, but afraid of spiders 🤣 This is the only reason I know this!! 🙃🙂
