I have face piercings and I color my hair a lot of 'wild' colors (right now it's blue and pink.) I wish people didn't judge by physical appearance so much. We miss out on a TON of talent by being so judgemental. We need people who look and think differently; that's a part of diversity and inclusion too.

My beautiful, brilliant stepdaughter (I suppose ex-stepdaughter since I kicked her lying piece of crap dad out) is now in grad school and came by to visit—like this. Covered with tattoos even on her face and with a nose ring—horseshoe- shaped through her septum. She’s actually academically gifted and has been given adult responsibilities at her university. I tried not to stare and asked no questions. I hope those choices don’t change her future prospects. Perhaps such embellishments will become the norm—or A norm—and she’ll be okay.

As a customer I wouldn’t want her waiting on me. She may be a perfectly great and honest person but her appearance is terrifying and most people wouldn’t feel unsafe shopping or having her help them. She needs to go to some grunge like store for teens. Any main stream store would have a problem with that. Sorry appearances does matter; society has indoctrinated and confused you. It is not acceptable. If you don’t want to conform a little bit you will never have a job. Unless you can become your own boss.

as a person with two dozen tattoos, having tattoos does not make you a protected class. even if you are truly being discriminated against, there are zero laws that have been broken. ps, if you apply at a job and confront the staff about it, plan on every application being flagged for the trash can forever.
