Personally I believe that burns are the worst physical trauma you can experience. It’s torture 24/7 depending on the severity of the burns pain meds do very little for the pain.

July 2018, Joe was driving home after working the night shift when his car veered off the road and flipped over. He survived, but was left with third-degree burns on more than 80 percent of his body. Even after 20 reconstructive surgeries, his injuries—amputated fingertips, severe facial scarring, and no lips or eyelids—limited his ability to lead an independent life.

That's what a hero looks like. Everything he went through physically and emotionally shows strength and courage most of us can't even imagine. Now he's out here living his best life. Hero. That's what I see. 100%.

God has a plan for every last one of us. That plan may not be obvious but it is definitely important to be open minded when it does happen.

I got burned when I was in my mid teens by hitting a wall in a dirt track car and car catching a fire. Even with a fire suit on, it only lasts so long but the suit melts to your skin and I still have some scars from it. Its a bad situation I wouldn't wish it upon absolutely no one ever. Just from what I went through.

He shouldn't be blamed for falling asleep at the wheel..it was an accident and he is paying the physical and emotional cost of that. He was brave to agree to the face transplant. Sometimes our will to live gets us through even though the situation is difficult and painful..

Thank you for seeing fit to allow him to stay here and for putting the skills into the hands of his incredible doctors. He truly is a walking miracle here on earth. Smh. Wow a doubled hand transplant too..I didn't see that immediately. By agreeing to have the surgeries necessary he is also helping others who may need the same treatment. Because of him they know more about those procedures and they can learn from the graciousness of this man who has obviously suffered a great deal. I don't know if I've heard of a double or single hand transplant being done. Usually a person that needs new hands gets a prosthesis.

By the pictures that are posted with this story he seemed to be vain. Not that I wish for anyone to go through such a tragedy. 🤔 So don't give me crap.

It's so difficult to go thru. But you awaken as a new person who's soul is more advanced than most. It's aa beautiful opportunity. I know and was crippled in a car accident, my Dr. said I have to give in to the idea of not walking again. My husband said if you can't walk again I don't want to stay married to you. I woke up. Left the creep. But am very happy. This was an opportunity to see who I was and my strength. Sometimes these are to help us see who we are and our strength.

I’m surprised he lived through 80% of his body burned….they can’t feed them enough calories through their IV and they weep so fast they need constant fluid intake and then there is infection they have to worry about
