Don't try to hold a regular snapping turtle like that, Their necks get up to 3 feet long and they're flexible enough to reach behind them and bite you.
I caught a snapping turtle 3x that size outside Baton Rouge La. They live up to 350 years old, so he was just a little guy when George Washington was President.

I thought I caught an alligator snapper once...was out sunning itself and I snuck up and put my boot on it's shell.Lucky I was wearing steel toe boots- took the leather off and dented the steel.Turns out it was a common snapping turtle that weighted 54lbs.I had to carry it by it's tail so it wouldn't take my arm off.I thought I had a record but apparently they don't keep those records.I released it where I found it but it was fun feeding him the panfish I caught in a kiddie pool
