The lioness not only has several cubs to raise, she also has a grown lion to reprimand. It was really funny seeing her give Leo a firm slap for bothering their cubs and he TOOK IT like a partner.
I have read that the male lions are often known to kill the cubs, so momma does need to keep a watchful eye over the whole family (or at least until the male gets used to them).
