In 1964, I remember someone rubbing ash to my earlobe and pierced my ears with a needle and thread. I was 4 yrs old. I don't remember if my mom used Vaseline on the thread and kept sliding it through the hole or was it alcohol. My holes never closed and I'm 65 now.

I was chicken. my mom did the burned needle, with thread and ice on my cousin and friends. I didn't trust her. I used self piecing earrings. I was 16. I might do it again. u can buy self piercers on line and when it pops through u have a gold earring til u get new ones. My dtr and granddaughter went to a place that does it. My dtr was 5 my gdtr was 2. with my dtr there was to be a person on each side doing both ears at the same time.. well 1-2-3. One of them couldn't count. my dtr was upset, called them liars for not doing at same time. she cried. but it got done. she now was 2 piecings in both ears. belly button and tongue and 2 tattos with her boys birth dates. I guess she got over it. She also took out the belly button and tongue one. Don't tell me your broke when u got this stuff done. To me broke is u can pay bills or buy food.. Grandma,me, is still a chicken lol.
