ive taken care of a couple neighbors kids who had bad head lice, I found out one night she asked if they could spend the night so she could go out late fir their anniversary. those girls had such a bad case, I found out their mom knew for years her girls had lice. I had to clean carpet, linen, stuffed animals etc just to assure none of my family got lice, so no I dont believe everyone can get lice as long as you take care of any lice issues like I did.
It’s because there’s strands of your hair that is so tight and it hurts so you smack it to loosen out the pain

I think they slap them because they itch. When I was a teenager in the 70s the movie 10 came out with Bo Derick. I spent a fortune on wooden and gold beads and had my super long blonde hair plated in her style with all the beads. You can wash your hair with the braids in but the pulling makes your head itch. Slapping stops the itching.

As a high school classroom teacher, I don’t know how many times I listened to students beating on their heads because the braids were too tight!

You can wash your hair/scalp with braids, just rinse well. He can put some hair oil/cream /olive oil mousse, or braid spray on his scalp to calm That feeling.
