I have a feeling he bought the tree, or a portion of the tree from someone who already cut it down. I hate to tell people but makers of high end instruments, or makers of car dashboards for Rolls Royce. Chefs at high end resteraunts do the same thing when thwy shop for ingredients for their menu like yellow fin tuna for sushi.
