Back in the 80's I worked behind drywall contractors that used long board and glued & screwed them in place. They used sheet metal inserts that had a point in the center that poked thru like that. They used Roto-Zips that had an adjustable gauge that rested against the point which set the spinning screw cutter right outside the light or outlet box. They also had a vacuum hose attached that sucked up the dust so only the cut piece was left to be tossed into a nearby bucket. They told me to visit the sheet metal shop that made those to buy metal inserts to keep my mud, texture and paint off the wires. So I did that and used them as forms to vacuum form more out of plastic milk jugs and pop bottles.

Don’t put the screw next to the box and put the last one where the baseboard will cover it. I guess he only HANGS drywall.
