Of course he’s right. It is a hugely spread false narrative that slavery was widespread in America. ANY is obviously too much, but lying about it is unacceptable as well.

What does the flag represent
Only wealthy plantation owners had slaves as a rule. Thus very few people had slaves. I'd guess less than 10 percent of the southern states population had slaves. I can't remember the exact number but you can look it up. Another fact is not every slave owner was a vicious piece of garbage. Not every slave owner beat their slaves. Another fact not readily known was that the civil war wasn't primarily about slavery, it was about the right of the southern states to secede from the Union. The Union being the conglomerate known as the United States of America. Another less known fact is the Confederate flag was known as the rebel flag. To most people it's a symbol of rebellion against the status quo or the establishment of big government. As such it has nothing to do with slavery. I suspect that is true of this gentleman here.

We were working class folks with our family farms we worked WITHOUT ANY SLAVE HELP. U. S. Army troops invaded, burned, destroyed & stole from us just because we were Southerners. We face discrimination to this day as 3rd class citizens. We are denied our history and heritage, and today, we only count at Tax time and War time and told we are U. S. citizens. GOD SAVE THE SOUTH! MAY WEYET GAIN OUR INDEPENDENCE AND LIBERTY!

He's right, my great great grandparents worked their own farm and also fought to protect it. You know who owned slaves back then, rich people, BLACK AND WHITE. rich people owned farms.
less than 1% of people in the south owned slaves. majority of the people that fought in the civil war were fighting for states rights and the freedom to do their land as they see fit. to most people had nothing to do with slaves
