sounds like they had common sense so many our our lords warriors lost in that war sent into ambushes sprayed with agent orange I'm not saying the war wasn't needed but needed to be handled differently bless our women and men for their services not to mention how they were treated when they came home we lost to many children
you know if you grew up with Vietnam on your supper table every night. do you hear about a lot of lieutenants that went missing lol that wasn't unjust war we should have never been there.
Seals would never turn down a mission, and the Seals were not fully activated in Nam.
Orders from the inexperienced got many killed & a few Lt's who gave them.

I remember in 1969 ,70 and 71 combat pay was $65 bucks a month so I don't think any of us viet-nam veterans was there for the money

And, don't forget the north Vietnamese had been fighting from underground tunnels for years...you thought winning Iwo Jima was tough...IT WAS!!! Remember the toughest battles in the Civil War was Fredericksburg and Bunker Hill...Thousands died trying to cross the Rappahannock in VA...it was a bloodbath.

No, it's not noncompliance...it's an impossible mission in horrific conditions...with a poor supply system and lack of coms and air control...Read the book by Stanley Karnow about the failures in Vietnam.
