I've been making my own breads for almost 40 years. I use real butter and Honey in the mix and since both are naturally microbiological resistant, they outlast store bought. Flour, water, milk, eggs, butter, honey, salt - that's all. No high fructose corn syrup, no tropical oils, or trans fats. I have low blood pressure and cholesterol, I'm healthy and happy.

I buy all my fresh bread from Publix bakery! but I found that it goes stale very quickly especially green mold. the bread is delicious but it doesn't last I don't think they add any additives to keep the bread from going stale. so if you buy fresh bread from Publix you have to eat it within a few days or it will go bad on you I am Michael Knight and I approve this message👍😆

The stores in our area have bread that’s been using twist ties. No color code and no BB date. Clueless. 🍞

I knew that but I always checked the dates. Sometimes if I couldn't see them I would use the tag color. 👍

It amazes me that out of 595 comments, at least 1/3 are asking what the WHITE tag or WHITE twist ties mean. The only answers and only a few guess that the product is pre-frozen. This is not the case. Look on the front just a few inches below that white twist to see the date. This date is the sell by date and that doesn't mean use by date. As a lot of people have said that they bring it home and it stays fresh from days to weeks.

Do the colors represent “use by” or when it was put on the shelves? Thank you so much for this info.

I'm confused. So what does the color code mean? Is it the last day they can sell the bread or is it the day the bread arrived to the store?

avator

exactly but if today was Saturday that could be from last Saturday so you have to look at dates not just colors😂😂

Have you noticed that bread doesn't seem to spoil as much as it did in the past? I keep bread in the fridge for weeks and it’s still fine. Of course, my grandmother kept bread on top of the refrigerator. It never spoiled either, but there were several people to feed, so she never had it long enough to spoil.
