One of the first things I learned in training to be an Animal Control Officer is NEVER believe an owner who tells you their dog doesn't bite! PLEASE LEASH YOUR DOG(S)!

True but a supposedly trained dog attacked my little Chihuahua. I had to pull him up into my arms by his leash to protect him. The owner was an idiot and didn't even apologize. Laws are laws. People should abide by them otherwise there is anarchy.

PROBLEM IS, ITS THE LAW!!!! It’s THE LAW for a very, very good reason. I own dogs, I love animals; my dogs are trained and I would never, ever take my dogs in public without a leash 🤦♀️

Problem is you can have highly trained fogs, but that does t mean they wont react or attack back when they are attacked. Its the law!!! Period. Follow it!!

Depends upon the local laws. I’m a former dog trainer who maintains verbal control over my dogs, but the law is the law.
As a trainer almost my entire adult life, I have seen LOTS of dogs ON leads that are NOT UNDER CONTROL. They pull, buck, strain & wriggle free. You only THINK the dog is "under control" until it is not. Personally, I'd rather see a dog like that Corso-Dane mix totally trained to that girl's command. Versus a dog straining, leading the owner & lunging at others on lead. I really think that owners should be licensed, just like a drivers license.

I carry a baton zapper (stun gun) and I will use it if a dog comes near me and it's not leash because to me that is protecting myself from harm.
Send the video to the constables. A law applies to all dogs. She does not get to decide the law doesn’t apply to her.

Facts: a well trained dog with a responsible owner can go off lead. Keep your yappy dogs at home. I have two well trained bulldogs.

Not all dogs are trained the same. Not all dogs stay limitless. In fact, even thought the dog is stationary if the other dog just approaches to smell the other the dog will turn defensive and or attack.

I, too, agree. Follow the law. if everyone has their dogs on leads, there would be minimal attacks on other dogs and people. We could have the most gentle dog, but if something is perceived as a threat by that dog, there's nothing but your voice to try to prevent the attack!

It’s the LAW!!!🤔 And it's the right thing to do! At 72 y/o, I certainly don't need another dog off leash tripping me and causing me to fall again. PLEASE be considerate of others and obey the Law!! Take your Dog out to the country and let them run free there!
Because a dog trained or not should be on a leash, and especially a large powerful dog, not by the collar but under the arms and clipped at the back, for better control
