That must be Dollar General blue masking tape and not blue frog tape. Blue Frog tape says you don't have to paint the original color first. Or trim with it third. Now you know why you don't go cheap on the trim tape when painting a house. Or anything else requiring trim tape...

use wall color paint to fill in the voids of the tape, then paint the other color.
