When I was 15 I was sent to scared straight at the walls unit in Huntsville Tx. It was terrifying however, it didn’t scare me away from trouble like one would hope. It made me tougher, colder, and a little more experienced than the next guy. It worked against me not for me.

I spent a lot of time working in prisons in California. Used to pick up people from there as an EMT. Inmates always had a huge amount of respect for us but man I’ve seen what it can be and I’ll never want to go there. I remember being about 19 seeing the 4x4 cages people were sitting in what looked to be pretty much barns. That’s one place I’ll never want to be. It was ok for us but I saw the brutality it can be if you’re inside. Especially in the mental asylum I used to go to and yes they still exist
