HOT

when I worked in labor and delivery, I had a patient come in that had been sent home. She was like 15 or 16 and very quiet. I sent her into the bathroom to put on her gown and get me a urine specimen and after about two minutes, she said I can’t pee and I said why not and she said because the babies’s coming nobody says the baby’s coming unless the baby’s coming so I ended up delivering an 8 1/2 pound baby on the toilet and it did not bump any part of it on the toilet. I always thought I should’ve been paid for that delivery.!!!! It was well worth it because I was walking on air for days one of the most exciting things I ever did in my nursing career

When my second son was born, my OB checked my labor, and said he was going to another doctor's house for dinner. Well, baby decided to be born without an OB present. There was the OB nurse and another who was kind of freaking out. It was the easiest of all three childbirths, the nurse just told her trainee that they were just going to let it happen, and that's what they did. No time for epidural, either. So easy, though, without the dr! He came in after it was all over, teasing me about him missing dessert! My husband and I personally thought that the OB nurse should have been paid for the delivery, not the dr - he wasn't even there!

that might be true but I've never seen or heard of it happening that fast but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen

I feel bad for both of them. He didn't mean to miss it and I'm sorry mama you had to do it by yourself. As long as he is there now and helps you for the next 20 yrs I would forgive him😆👍 Congratulations on your new baby 🥰

My husband took my mom to the hospital cafeteria to get her a cup of coffee. He was gone 20 min. I went from 2cm to 10cm almost as soon as he left. Got taken to delivery and had our son. His first words when they let him in? "Why didn't you wait?" 😆 Good thing I have a sense of humor!

My fourth child, my third boy, was 10 pounds… It took 20 minutes from first pain to delivery! Hubby dropped me off at the emergency door with a wheelchair, he parked the car, and Adam was born already when he came in to the emergency… The nurses kept telling me to cross my legs and hold it in, lol the doctor wasn't there yet… This boy wanted to be BORN!!!

my husband was supposed to be following the ambulance taking me to the hospital and didnt expect our baby to come so fast so he stopped at McDonalds and missed whole birth! I was mortified when the nurse asked if there was anyone to cut the umbilical cord and I had to say no bc we had just moved so I didnt have any family in town.

When my granddaughter was born my son said, "Oh yeah Mom you've got time to shower." (He was out smoking). My D-I-L, called from her room, & said, "If you're coming you might want to hurry." 20 minute drive I arrived just in time. She was born 10 minutes later. My first little girl to dress, up, & play with. I am a boy Mom. My son, & D-I-L gave me 2 beautiful granddaughters, & one handsome grandson.

When I had my son I had gestational diabetes and then developed pre e eclampsia and had to get induced and spend majority of my second and third trimester on bed rest and in and out of hospital and they finally decided to induce my labor and with it being my first time that my body wasn’t ready and they admitted and started inducing labor and said it could take me 30 minutes to have him or it could take hours each patient was different and with having high levels of protein could damage my kidneys so they started inducing my labor on my 29th birthday and I ended up having him 2 days after my 29th birthday and I ended up having to have a c section after 2 days of labor and I expected a 9 pound baby and he weighed 6 lbs 6 oz and after all that I decided at my age and with a scare like that I didn’t have anymore . He’s a gift from god and the best birthday present that I could ever receive and that was 22 years ago.

It can happen that fast. My second daughter was born on a Sunday afternoon. The nurses examined me at 2 pm, said go back home you're only five centimeters dilated and you're contractions are so weak they're barely registering on the monitor. We hit the doorway to the hospital and I turned to my husband and said, "I think we should stay here. This baby is coming soon." We settled into the waiting room and played some rummy and I paced in between hands of the card game. At 4:10 pm, rather adamantly I announced, "I need to be checked." They did and there was a mad scurry to get me into the birthing room, and find the OB doctor who was on call. All the while, the nurses tending to me were saying in a hushed panic, "Don't push yet! Don't push!" The doctor arrived at the foot of the birthing bed at 4:33 pm and at 4:35 pm I had my daughter laying across my chest. It can happen that quick. The pizza should have been a backseat priority.

This happened with my daughter . She started having contractions.. left to go to hospital.. 20min away, My husband and I got dressed - rushed over to the hospital with her two year old son, while looking for the elevator and I see her in the hospital Gift Shop! She already had the baby! We were in Shock! She said she barely got there in time and he was born! That was baby # 2.. she has 4 now, but that one was the easiest and quickest one!

Spending time waiting for food while leaving his wife in labor, that's just craziness. Ever heard of pizza delivery?

He should have called a friend to bring food or figured out something else. Mom has to plan ahead with a bag and men should plan ahead with snacks in the bag to hold him over or find a place that will deliver to the room or nurse station.

This same thing happened to me. I stayed with my granddaughter for over 13 hours while she was in labor. The doctor wasn’t even present in the building during any of that time. I told the nurse I needed to run out for a little while, and she said I had plenty of time, not to rush. I came back in about an hour and a half. They literally did a c-section right after I left. I was so upset. They didn’t call and tell me that they were doing that and to come on back. I missed being with my granddaughter when she gave birth, and felt so bad that she was alone during that time. What had happened was a doctor thing. The doctor came in shortly after I left and said since the baby wasn’t progressing to go ahead and do a c-section. My granddaughter was very afraid and very upset that it was pushed on her like it was and them not notifying me.

no freaking way I would have killed him, although people will fly from like 5 cm to fully dilated especially if they have an epidural so it can happen really fast

I don't believe it was 45 minutes. After birth they clean you up and sew you up if needed and the baby is taken by nurses to clean up and assess the health of the baby. There would still be a lot of activity in that room and she would be in recovery.

My husband almost missed his first born being borne, because he went outside to smoke a cigarette and proceeded to carry on long conversations in hallway with people going and coming back to the emergency room cubicle I was in. When he had finally come back, they had already taken me to the delivery room. 😂
