I grew up in a predominantly white environment and was the only Black girl in my grade for four years. During my teen years, I secretly wished I were white to fit in better, but I'm truly grateful that my parents allowed me to attend Spelman College and experience what it means to be a Black woman. She is perfectly made, in all her beauty and blackness. I love our diversity, regardless of ethnicity. Keep shining, young lady—you make me proud!
