Leave the Amish alone. They don't bother anyone. They don't ask for a month or celebrate their uniqueness. They pay taxes and live within society without demanding special rules from our government. This is more than I can say for most "unique" lifestyles or cultures.
A lot of the Amish will drive their horses until they can work no more. They sell them to auctions where kill buyers purchase them, ship them to Mexico and Canada, and the horses are brutally slaughtered. No, I do not care for these people and the lack of respect they show animals.

Puppy Mills are HORRIFIC and shouldn’t be contributed to!!! If you buy a puppy from them or a Pet Store, you are contributing to the problem. Amish care nil about the dogs, the animals get ZERO medical care, never touch the ground, are fed dirty, rotten, wormy food and the dogs only stand one metal wire cages that are stacked on each other….never feeling grass. There are worse HORROR stories if you just research, you don’t have to dive very deep. ADOPT, DON’T SHOP!!!!!!
So not only are they horrible puppy mill breeders that don’t supply heating or air-conditioning for the dogs - many of whom ultimately die from the elements - but apparently they’re slave owners too? What did they do, “adopt” a black child to “work the farm.” These people are sick. I have ZERO respect for the disgusting Amish community.

I've grown up with and still live with Amish neighbors. The elder will come over to use our phone to conduct business. We have given them free access to our pole barn that has a chest freezer to store food and a power strip to charge batteries. Different sects have different "rules." When my papa had an amputation, our Amish neighbor organized a group of men to come over and build a handicap ramp. Two different sects. Some used battery cordless tools while others used manual hand tools. They came together as a community and worked together to assist their "English" brethren despite their own differences. We paid for the lumber and they provided free labor. However, I do not care for the way they treat their animals. For them, animals are property and tools, kinda like slavery mindset. Dog breeding is often a low cost, low labor option for them to make money. To each their own. They don't harm me, so I have no ill will towards them.

You have never lived in Amish country. We had an Amish neighbor for years. Their puppy mills are the reason that there are so many dogs in shelters. They keep females in tight cages as breeders. They’re often not taken out of their cages. It’s sickening!!! The dogs they sell aren’t healthy either. A friend had his dog die as a puppy as a result of their treatment. They try their best to hide what they do. One of our friends didn’t realize he was buying from a puppy mill. The poor puppy was sick. He was going to return it, but they were just going to shoot it, so he kept it. They should be put in jail for animal cruelty. They go against the Bible by doing what they do!! “Proverbs 12:10, which states, "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel". This verse, along with others, demonstrates that God values his creatures, and humans are entrusted with the responsibility to care for them with a righteous and merciful attitude.”
The Amish are not angels. Ask any animal they own!! Dogs bred in filthy conditions until they can't breed anymore, taken out back and shot. Horses worked from sun up til sun down for 20 years are turned in to slaughter auctions. No thought to their service. Both species neglected to the point of near death. DONT BUY ANIMALS FROM THEM !! STICK TO THE FURNITURE!!

They do not treat their dogs good. Especially puppies that are males. The one a family member got was left in a cattle pen to eat what the cattle left. The dog was so mistreated and neglected that he was terrified of people.
