Its rapid, you can tell by the consistent stretching of his jaw. he's experiencing lockjaw. It was looking for help, but you need to realize somwthing here. Its already dead. That lockjaw is a sure sign of the rabies being too far gone to save the creature. Best thing to do in a more urban setting is to call animal control or the police. If youre in a rural are like this? We'll, we just gonna save the poor thing from its pain. There is literally absolutely no reason to approach this WILD and very dangerous animal in this condition. Don't become a Darwin award.

I would've killed it immediately! Then called the game warden so they could check it's brain to confirm if it was rabid. if they didn't come get it I would've burned it. They need to be on the lookout for other rabid animals around there.

100% rabies…I’d shoot it on sight anyways…there’s absolutely zero reason a coyote should feel safe that close to humans…even if it was a healthy one the more u allow it the more that will come around…kids n small animals are especially at risk…but in this case anyone that has a firearm should’ve put it down immediately n called dec n showed them the video if needed but they can confirm through testing either way
