It's a sea cucumber. When threaten they spill their guts to the predator. It's a member of the star fish family. One cuts it open and the five muscles on the inside can be stripped off and used like clam strips or in a chowder. Some Asia people pickle the outer skin...considered a delicacy

@Duane Johnson - You need to read 1 Tim 4:4. Your Word was meant so under the Law of th e old covenant. Jesus died to give us an abundant life. He said under the new covenant (new testament ) that all things are good and nothing to be refused if it be received with Thanksgiving because it is sanctified by the Word of God. Thank God. Whisper a scripture, then eat whatever things are edible for human consumption. The scales and pigs and things of that sort were counted as unclean simply to show and distinguish between holy and unholy. Those distinctions to show who the almighty God was and to establish obedience to His Word among so many other idol Gods and that they were different, holy, a peculiar people of the Lord. Jesus came and fulfilled what the Law pointed to in grace and righteousness. Those laws are not for today. We live under the dispensation of Grace today, not returning to the old Law of Moses.
