Germans were the first to make that style ejection seat, they had the only Jet so they needed a better way for the pilot to eject.. 😳😳

did anyone see those straps around his legs just below his knees? The pilot attaches them to the upper part of his calves when he (or she) straps in. A good crew chief ensures that happens. Those are connected to the ejection seat. Those fire a fraction of a second before the rocket motors under the seat fire to actually shoot the pilot out of the cockpit. That's to ensure the lower limbs get out from under the instrument panel during the 'Oh Shit' moment.
