I worked on the steam catapults for launching the aircraft. When I was stationed aboard the USS Kennedy CV67 it was a great 👍 tour of duty . I got to visit some very interesting places around the world 🌍😁.

I can still hear the 5MC blaring, heads up forward and along the angle deck.....launching aircraft, launching aircraft.

It's controlled chaos, JBD (jet blast deflector) rises behind the aircraft as it goes to the catapult. This keeps the deck crew from being blown around like ragdolls. Then the launch bar drops into the shuttle, plane goes into tension and then it launches.
