I see the metro north guys here use them with their work trucks. Sometimes they come to my restaurant and the train wheels are tucked up under the frame.

in the 50's, you could lower the air pressure in your tire and drive on the rails. Just don't get caught in between crossings by a train.

You actually can see these on a lot of vehicles if you pay attention they’re tucked up underneath. I used to drive a truck that had these I worked for the railroad and when we’d have to go out and inspect the rail or put in a new piece on the curve because they wear out yes you drive up on a road drop these down and ride the rail to where you need to go to fix it could not all roads go to where The tracks are. But you better be careful because if you put a set of these on and get on a rail, you’re going to prison very fast if you don’t work for the railroad. Because obviously there’s trains going up and down that railroad and when you work for him, they shut the trains down so you can do these things, but yes, they are very common and it’s pretty neat. You don’t have to use your steering wheel.

My daddy and my uncle ruined a brand new set of rims on my pawpaws truck when the to the tires and road it down the railroad track running from the cops. The cops got tired of chains them so they went to their house and drank coffee with my pawpaw until they showed up. The got in big trouble with my pawpaw. They were more scared of pawpaw then they were the cops 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Is the car a 1956 Olds or a Pontiac ? I think it’s an Oldsmobile .

Rail wheels coming down for the hi-rail truck. Repair crew going out or doing inspection patrol.
