Ok … i’m sure I’m not the only one that noticed it but what are those spots on his back?

They are acting like it's a tiger! My gosh, a massive lizard is a Komodo Dragon, not a monitor lizard. These lizards are large but hardly dangerous. They aren't going to stalk people and kill them (although a Komido dragon would). You could get bitten or scratched or tail whipped if you don't handle them properly, but if you avoid them, they won't hurt you. The monitor was more in danger of illness or death due to environmental factors (it would eventually get too cold for him, he might not be able to find a suitable area to reside, he could be in danger from predator animals) and difficulty finding food.
