As a podiatry nurse, I can tell you this is so common. people that are diabetic and or, have neuropathy get ulcers on their feet and toes, the ulcers become infected.It goes to the bone, and then they need it amputated if they can't get it to heal, and become septic, then sometimes they need BKA.
my gmother had a BKA. It was hard for her. My late ex bf wanted his leg amputated. I told him he was crazy. When it was done, he was singing a different tune. You wanted it. No i didnt I even pulled 2 other ppl in that he told it too also. Needless to say after all was said and done, he was singing a different tune all together.

my husband died from Calciphylaxis after being diabetic for the better part of 20 years and then going into kidney failure he ended up with that fatal disease and with a 6 months it took his life was a sad sad thing to watch nothing I could do. I wish he would have listened to me to take care of himself
