Each to his own but when my youngest son was born, he had long hair down to what would have been the top of his collar. Everyone commented on my cute little girl! So I held him between my knees, with my left hand under his chin and gave him a boy cut. There was never a problem going to the barber. Today he is 48 years old and still can’t stand his hair to touch his neck!! My older son is 60 and spent 21 years in the Army with GI haircuts. Now he is a disabled Vet and grows his hair down his back, then donates it to Lock of Love for wigs for children with cancer who have lost their hair with chemo.
Always let the boys hair grow until he is 7 years of age and he won’t go bald at 21! Facts

Traditionally in our family the grandfather takes the 2 year Old grand Son for his first hair cut before n after pictures by mom. Then a lackbof hair is kept n framed with pictures. Grandfathers get excited! Then they go for ice cream or a treat after. 🌸

I didn't cut my son's hair till he was 6 years old he wanted to be like his dad who was full blooded native American Indian and his hair was down to his hips. but people would come to the school and say they want to adopt him and that's where I had to cut his hair. I made a leather headband for him so it felt like he was still like his dad. and I made sure that no one was going to take my son away

My oldest son had a big Afro when he was4 years old. I refused to cut his hair until he wanted it cut. My family constantly harassed me to cut it for 2-3 years. I finally cut it when he was 4-1/2 years old. I asked him if he wanted to get a haircut, he said yes. He was soooo happy with his new haircut. He didn't want me to touch his hair afterwards.
