The Corps maintains unit cohesion through spirited inter-service rivalry, a mindset ingrained by the rhythmic conditioning of our training cadences. In other words, we Marines are, in a sense, indoctrinated through a Classical Conditioning programming cadence that we repeatedly sing during PT runs or marches, often involving playful jabs at other branches, thus embedding it into our unique ethos. This has been ongoing for years, sometimes even leading to inter-branch squabbles. It is what it is. Semper Fi.
