Do you have an HR Dept? Maybe you could contact someone there and express your desire to work extra & suggest a fair way for extra hours to be offered. I'm not suggesting that you should have to beg anyone or kiss butt. Sometimes I think people with kids at home are offered 1st by well meaning management. If it matters to you, keep asking. Let them know in an email that you are willing and able to work Thursdays and that you have family needs that aren't being met and it would be really helpful if they could see to it that you are given extra hours. Sometimes, you just gotta keep asking but if you have record of it in your emails it's a lot harder for them to claim ignorance of the situation.
