you should have put it closer to the water, but still beautiful what you're doing
he did put them close to water. usually they have to cross the entire beach. which can sometimes be easily over a 100 ft trek. many time dbl that length. so he put them plenty close. im sure at least 30 to 40 percent more survive than when they have to trek just when they hatch from all the way near sand dunes at top of beach.

I would have done it closer to the water. this still makes it easier for the seagulls to get to them. at least he did have good intentions!
