Watching deer and the like remove the velvet from their antlers always looks horrific and puts an itch in my bones, but I reckon it's actually rather soothing and relatively painless from their perspective. 😬🦌

I didn't know for the longest time that they bleed when they scrape the velvet off, so the first time I saw one with its antlers all bloody, I thought it had brutally killed another animal with its antlers. I had no clue they bled.
