Why the ambulance going so slow on a highway
How do you yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle by passing it? you don't know his intentions and should stay clear. would you pass it if it was blue lights?
Well I don't know what state this is, in Tennessee we're allowed 10mph over posted speed limit, by law. And it's BOTH lights and sirens. Also, lights and sirens do not give automatic right of way. The lights and sirens are a way of asking traffic to yield. We are required to drive with 'due regard'. Plus we also have Vanessa K Free law in Tennessee. The guy passing the ambulance is not uncommon. Tennessee has Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) every other year and Vanessa K Free (VKF)every year. EMS hires every day. So go to school. Get your certs. And come on board. But until you're in the back with a patient... Some days we respond to 24/30 calls in a 24 hr period. Plus FEMA deployment. Sometimes we'll provide 911 coverage in affected areas so local crews can take care of their families in the event of natural disasters. Sorry. I'm not trying to take anyone on. Drive safe.

As having recently been in the back of one of these. He has right of way. Secondly, I can guarantee that ambulance is in better condition than anything your driving. pil changes included. tires checked daily. Then when I was in it... I got to I40/75 connection. Imagine that. Now, do I get to sue all those drivers because they csn not get out of the way?
