I was a life guard many years ago. As in many jobs you can zone out and you do get lost in your own thoughts. I so thankful for the boy who is ok.But no he shouldn’t be charged. He maybe the only lifeguard but where was the kids parents. Also depending on what the kid was wearing it can be difficult for you to see that kid on the bottom of the pool. Also did the kid know how to swim if not why was he not wearing a vest? There’s so many other questions

Just as this child's parents did not notice as well, but the point is, the child is alive and well because of his actions.So no I don't believe he should even be in cuff.S at all

With THIS logic,the parents should be the ones charged. Including the parents whose kids wander into their own pools. And including the parents whose kids run across streets and get hit by cars. Kids are unpredictable. And a lot of them “pretend” to drown when they’re in pools for fun. He did his job so the court of law should do theirs. That young man had a lot of kids to watch in that pool so they think the Lifeguard is going to watch one child and where were the parents these parents drop these kids off at a pool because they don't have time for them and use that lifeguard for a babysitter lifeguard are not babysitting but they do what they can
