I was a life guard many years ago. As in many jobs you can zone out and you do get lost in your own thoughts. I so thankful for the boy who is ok.But no he shouldn’t be charged. He maybe the only lifeguard but where was the kids parents. Also depending on what the kid was wearing it can be difficult for you to see that kid on the bottom of the pool. Also did the kid know how to swim if not why was he not wearing a vest? There’s so many other questions

This makes no sense no he should not why weren’t the parents watching the child it’s there responsibility he’s a life guard be thankful he saved the child’s life

no not at all. the parents should of been there watching also. it was a party. if not they should of had more than one guard like I said it was a party. Should of been more than one anyway

They should be patting that young man on the back , he saved the child. He shouldn’t be going through this. What kind of moron would charge this boy for that. This is stupidity at its best. Drop those stupid ass charges, give that boy a medal and send him home.

I'm sorry, but not for nothing clearly. This young man has not had any. He issues and enjoys his job as he's been there for 5 years. We are only human and mistakes happen. Just as this child's parents did not notice as well, but the point is, the child is alive and well because of his actions. So no I don't believe he should even be in cuff.S at all

Fuck no!!! The reason why he didn't notice the kid was because he was already underwater. He fucked up but definitely made up for it after he saved the little fucker's life. Those cops clearly don't have much to do. All these cops out here straight up murdering folks, and they're charging a lifeguard for not saving someone fast enough? This is an absolute joke!!!

With THIS logic, the parents should be the ones charged. Including the parents whose kids wander into their own pools. And including the parents whose kids run across streets and get hit by cars. Kids are unpredictable. And a lot of them “pretend” to drown when they’re in pools for fun. He did his job so the court of law should do theirs. Imagine saving someone’s life and ending up in prison for it,next to people who took others lives

That young man had a lot of kids to watch in that pool so they think the Lifeguard is going to watch one child and where were the parents these parents drop these kids off at a pool because they don't have time for them and use that lifeguard for a babysitter lifeguard are not babysitting but they do what they can

Where were the parents, they were the neglected care for the child What you Bring ur children to and let the lifeguard be their baby sitter while you watch ur hands of responsibility!!

So let me guess it’s the parents that’s saying it’s his fault when they should be watching their kids lifeguard is NOT BABY SITTER 8 other kids in the pool jumping you think they would notice right away.

No! Hell no the lifeguard shouldn't be punished. We don't have a hundred eyes. Once he noticed the child, he acted and saved the child. If he was looking at the child drown then fine, arrest him. Where the eff were the parents? No one should be locked up for this, fine the parents.

🤔 see that's what's wrong with laws now! Make people, parents responsible for their own children! My goodness he did not bring the child to the beach! He's watching a whole ⛱️ beach. Since when did he file taxes on that child! Charge the parents if you're going to file charges

every needs to find out what court house he is in and every one take the time to send a letter to the prosecutor or the judge so that way they see how many people disagree there not going look at all the comments on here but the pour out of written letters may make a difference just saying

Parents? That’s who needs to be held responsible!! Lifeguard succeeded where the parents failed. Period. Is there not rules posted that say enter at own risk. Or adult needs to be with small children at all times? That’s insane. He didn’t notice right off the bat, that’s to bad. But not entirely his fault alone

a lifeguard only has two eyes like the rest of us , can you honestly say one can watch many kids even eight , some kids love to go off on their own n they're in the water , a lifeguard can only see so much, whoever should be glad he was there to save the kid , he's not much older himself yeah 23 is still a baby to me , geez give the kid credit 👍 good job young man

All lifeguards should be protesting this and standing behind him. b have we got so awakened in our way of thinking we've lack COMMON SENSE Stop blaming the other people for someone elses responsibility! A little child should not be left at a swimming pool without a PARENT watching. That is their job! Cause guess what if they were there they could have alerted the lifeguard but no they were where again? Oooooh not there or even worse not watching THEIR child.smh.
