That’s a stream beaver you can tell by the size of the tail big body small tail. Most older beavers that are mostly extinct had big bodies and big tails.

lived there 7 Yeats never seen or heard of any being on the island. wonder if it was someone's pet that git loose. there's been lots of critters that has gotten loose or letoose including a monitor lizard

maybe it was playing possum and wasn't dead and walked away 🤔 I'm hoping but most likely it was picked up by a predator or maybe a human buried it sadly 😔 it's the circle of life 😔 I wonder how it died he looked pretty healthy maybe got hit by a car? I'm sorry you had to see this poor furbaby 😔
