When Israel was established in 1948, Israel controlled Gaza as part of Israel. This continued until 1967 when after the Egyptian/Israeli War as part of the peace deal Israel gave up partial governance of Gaza. During the following years:1994, 2005, and 2007 Israel gave up more and more control in governing Gaza, yet never fully relinquished full authority. Gaza belongs to Israel, not Palestine.
