Newsom is still a political opponent, so his words may carry bias. But bias does not automatically make someone wrong, and firsthand experience does not automatically make someone fully right either. The real question is whether what he said matches the pattern we’ve watched over time. And when someone’s description lines up with what keeps playing out publicly, people are justified in paying attention. At that point, it stops sounding like just opposition rhetoric and starts sounding like a warning from somebody who has dealt with it up close.
