I hope the Democrats change because the Democrats voted 12 times not to fund the Food Stamps. President Trump would never stop this program for the Elderly and Children who depend on it.
The governor is lying and continues to lie. No, the president cannot unilaterally open the government during a shutdown; both the President and Congress must act. To end a government shutdown, Congress must pass and the President must sign appropriations bills that fund the government. The President can only continue essential services, but cannot make payments for unfunded programs.

During the longest shutdown in 2018-2019, the USDA's contingency funds were used to fund SNAP. But during this one, Trump's USDA is refusing to do it.

They cry "no money for food stamps" while our own food rots, a moral crime, in warehouses. The food exists! Our leaders care more about their own projects than feeding us. If that aid can't leave the docks, it must feed people here. This calculated move is a total failure of our leadership.
