Texas was ordered to the redistricting, it was the Biden administration that sued Texas to correct their congressional map, in California the voters passed a bill 15 years ago that established an independent committee to set the congressional map every 10 years after the census.
California votered 40% for Trump in November of 2024. You can't ignore 40% of the state's population, Gavin, because they voted Republican.

I haven't met a single person voting yes. This is a waste of Gov't funds and a waste of time. Newsom claims there is no money in the budget, yet continues his pet projects spending millions with reckless abandon. CA needs to get back on track and this administration isn't focused on that.

Newsom doesn't like California voters so he will do anything including fudging on the truth to get his way. Voters passed the death penalty and Newson issued an order canceling it. The voters passed prop 36 and Newsom is choosing to ignore it. The voters, both dmDemocrats and Republicans passed a constitutional amendment on how voters districts are developed. Newsom doesn't like it so he had his minions draw the most ridiculous map you can imagine and is telling voters it's in their best interest to pass it. Unfortunately some voters are more interested in fighting Trump than doing what is best for California.
