Plus, those that are lucky enough to be rehired, will not be given retroactive pay. A MAGA Republicans dream. Immigrants are NOT getting your tax-funded freebies. By federal law, they can’t get Medicaid, food stamps, Section 8, Social Security, or SSI. The only thing they can do is get emergency care in an ER — because the law requires hospitals to treat ANYONE who’s dying, citizen or not. The only reason some states give limited help (like kids’ health care in California or New York) is because those states use their own state money, not federal tax dollars. So no — immigrants are not “stealing benefits.” The real fight is Republicans trying to slash your health care, Medicaid, ACA, and food programs — which will hurt millions of American citizens.

The subsidy is being cut were not included in the initial ACA. The Democrats forced the ACA down the throats of Americans with no support from Republicans whatsoever, as such, they had the opportunity to do whatever they wanted to do, but they opted to restrict the amounts of the subsidies. Democrats controlled the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives when the American Rescue Plan Act that expanded the ACA subsidies was passed. The Democrats made those expansions temporary. They had the opportunity to make them permanent, yet they didn’t. The Republicans didn’t cut the subsidies, they allowed them to expire, as was the intention of the Democrats when they implemented them. Now the Democrats have shut down the government, not because of Republicans, but because of their own decision not to make them permanent in the first place.

It’s completely misleading to claim that Democrats “love immigrants more than Americans.” Supporting immigrants’ rights and due process doesn’t mean we favor non-citizens over citizens—it means we believe in basic human rights and the rule of law. Every person, citizen or not, is entitled to fair treatment under the Constitution. Meanwhile, the MAGA crowd proudly funnels millions of taxpayer dollars to Israel while the people of Gaza endure a genocide. If “love” is measured by financial and political support, they are clearly prioritizing a foreign population over their own citizens in need. Advocating for human rights at home isn’t unpatriotic—it’s upholding the values America claims to stand for.
