To anyone saying Charlie Kirk is “full of hate,” that claim doesn’t hold up to the facts. Kirk’s Turning Point USA has invited, hosted, and collaborated with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds, including Black Americans, LGBTQ conservatives, and others. Some examples of Black conservatives he has worked with or hosted at TPUSA events include Candace Owens (who got her start with TPUSA), Brandon Tatum, Terrance Williams, David Harris Jr., Anthony Brian Logan, and Dr. Ben Carson, among many others. TPUSA also runs events like the Young Black Leadership Summit, which have drawn hundreds of young Black attendees and speakers.
Charlie Kirk’s assassination made one thing clear. As a society we have two ways forward, More hate and division which will eventually lead to civil war and the collapse of our country, or we learn to listen to each other. Not talk because we’ve all shown how great we are with the comments and come backs. But like really opening our minds and hearts to try and understand each other. We don’t have to agree but we need to find common ground rather than trying to convince others that our understanding is somehow better. That was Charlie’s message about empathy and sympathy. You can’t really have empathy because you haven’t lived someone else’s life but you can have sympathy because as human beings we all have our own personal struggles. Let’s work on listening to each other rather than formulating the best insults to hurl at each other. If we can place a high value on creating connections through understanding, this is the only way to evolve from our current situation. 🙏🏼
