in 1860s. chinese people were brought here and were forced to work in dangerous conditions for little pay. one example is the trans continental railroad. many died. when the africans were freed many plantation owners brought chinese people to replace them. this didn't work that well for the plantation owners because the chinese left after the contract ended. there even was a chinese exclusion act that banned chinese from many things. although the chinese were not treated as badly as the africans, the africans were not the only ones who were mistreated.
