The national guard can not be placed willy nilly for "police actions" outside of DC, which is the presidents responsibility. But he can deploy them to protect federal buildings and agents, which is what he did in LA. Just because LA didn't burn doesn't mean their presence wasn't justified. It absolutely kept the looney birds from the Left from setting fire to LA and wreaking absolute havoc as they did in the summer of 2020. You know, those "mostly peaceful" protests with billions of dollars in damage, thousands injured and hospitalized, federal buildings, and a police precinct vandalized with the precinct being burned to the ground. and several people left dead in the streets. Trump is being pre-emptive knowing what could happen. What leader in their right mind wouldn't accept the assist?
