Well, if it was and we paid the burger flipper at Mc D's $20/hr, how much would your burger be? Are you willing to pay $35 for a big Mac meal? Some jobs are part time low wage jobs. Fast food is not meant to be a career it is a full in job.
So what is a ‘livable wage?’ If one has two kids and another employee doing the same job has one, clearly the parent needs more money to live. So is the solution to pay them more? Would that be fair? If I drive an old car, and another goes into debt to buy a new one, the car buyer needs more to live. Should they get paid more? Is either of these scenarios the employers responsibility? People get paid for their value, efforts and time, not their needs. No liberal would agree that a person with more debt should get paid more than them. Equal opportunity does not mean equal results.

yoh are a liar the .minimum wage was a livable wage in the 50s and 60s🌸 that it was a livable wage at one time means it was designed to be a livable wage. the corporate subsadies in the form of taxpayer support for workers who do not earn enough to survive is a subsidy for corporations to keep prices artificially low it is also a subsidy for consumers low prices.
A livable wage is something that you work to attain. It isn't just handed to you from the get-go. You aren't just handed a degree upon entering a college. you work for it.

The federal minimum wage has not increased in more than 15 years but inflation has risen. Therefore the federal minimum wage should be raised by a percentage every year just like social security. 3-5% a year is not excessive! Republicans give huge tax breaks to billionaires and bail out corporations but won’t make these corporations increase the minimum wage. It’s disgusting!

Absolutely in my day they were called starter jobs like McDonalds, bagging groceries at the store, pumping gas, lawn care, and the list goes on and on.

I do see his point, when I worked at Taco Via when I was in high school, the hourly wage was not expected to be able for me to buy a home and raise a family on. why learn, grow, become a nurse, if i can get it all selling tacos. besides it not expected to pay my rent, food, car, etc. but I also at 16 yrs old, would have spent it on getting high, partying or traveling to Hawaii on.

So when I was in retail, I was promoted up as high as manager, but I still wasn’t making squat. What did I do? I went to a trade school and now I’m an x-ray technologist making good money. It’s called thriving and working to move up the ladder. You can’t expect to make $30 an hour flipping burgers because you must be out of your mind!

He's right, the jobs I had in high school I knew weren't high paying and meant to live on and right after school I started out with lower wage jobs knowing I would apply myself and work my way up the ladder. It's called earning what you have and paying your dues.
