I was watching Livestream that day and all I saw was a crowd of people walking around inside the Capitol. Cops were standing around talking to people. The site I was watching was not outside so I had no idea what was going on out there.

This federal control is a unique exception, as the DC National Guard is not under local mayoral or gubernatorial authority, and any requests for its deployment must be processed through the federal chain.
