I was a senior in high school and I remember this quite well.
I remember seeing that house wash away. it still breaks my heart.

I heard that this very flood was caused because a man didn’t want his wife coming back home…ever! So he damaged the levee and waited for nature to take its course…Allegedly 🤔
It was an awful summer.We lost our water The National Gaurd brought water in to us brought semis into the hospitals with water for the pts and for the employees.
I remember that flood so well
I, like many others, did some sandbagging in MO and IL. Everyone knew there would be a break in a levee somewhere. Words like sand boils became part of every one's conversation. The footage of the early morning after the Chesterfield levee break was also unforgettable.

I still remember being in elementary school riding the bus on 61-67 through some high flood water in front of kimmswick. That would never be allowed today.
