An area as big as Manhattan? I can't imagine the enormous effort of all those involved in recovery. Just so, so, so many terrible stories of loss already, and so many families and friends still without answers for the rest. I lived in Texas 20 years. I have experienced how quickly it can flood. My heart is SO heavy for the victims, families, first responders, volunteers of this horrific tragedy! My thoughts keep racing, asking: 1. Where was the timely, ongoing emergency notifications from Thursday into Friday ~ yes, some were made, but they seem sorely inadequate for the impending, overwhelming disaster. 2. The immediate actions from the LOCAL responders were nothing short of heroic! But…where were responders, dogs, other states, federal level (we are the UNITED States), and military EARLY on? It was known early on that 28 Camp Mystic children were missing, there were 18 other youth camps (with 700-950 children each!) lining the rivers, plus campers in tents, cabins, RVs. Why were Federal, other states first responders, dogs so DELAYED in arriving yet another 1-6 days later, if at all. 3. Private donations coming in from celebrities, others should be 1,000% MATCHED by FEDERAL funding…to include adequate WARNING infrastructure in Flood Alley 🙏🙏🙏
