Whenever I see an ax in a tree stump, I think of that movie Battle cry with Aldo Ray. he plays a Ww11 Marine That comes across a tree stump with an ax stunk in it and the widow says it's been there Frozen since my husband left. nobody can Pull out the ax from the stump and he does it. and it's a very dramatic scene and anybody you sees anytime a tree stump with a ax. this got to come to mind

You have to be able to swing hard enough to sink the are head in the wood far enough that the spreader actually touches the wood. These actually work really well for wood that's on the green side.
