When I was little my shoelace got caught in that thing and it ripped my shoe off my foot causing me to fall and twist my ankle. They had to emergency stop the escalator to get the destroyed shoe out.

I have an escalator story! I was 5 and sat down on the steps. At the top, my winter coat got caught and started pulling me in. They had to run, shut the escalator off and cut me out of my coat. Boy was my mom mad.
