Sorry, but the lapel grab in self-defense is taught in every martial art except Brazilian Jujitsu. It was intended to thwart Japanese police from taking their knots. Also, in ninjitsu, they teach the lesson to place needles in your lapel along the seam and flap. This is intended again to stop someone or a police or loyalty guard from grabbing the lapel or neckline. Lapel defense is common.
