A friend of mine was a manager at a restaurant, the exact thing situation happened to her; when she tried to stop the thief she was badly beaten ending at the hospital for several days; she was so traumatized that she was unable to work after that, worst part was the owner did nothing to help her, he argued that it was her own decision putting herself in danger.
technically that was just going to make her more thirstier soda has a habit of making people dehydrate faster so I would have done nothing but make her even more she probably would have stuck her mouth on that thing and just start guzzling
