there's no way in my 25yrs as a gm heavy tech, that I would even think of letting that out my bay without a proper repair. beg, barrow or trade. but repair it correctly. don't know how many "patch jobs so i can sell it",I've done for customers in my younger years. only to see it again totally destroyed. because it was running good so I kept driving it. lost a few customers for those repairs back then. if you can't effort to do it right the first time, how can you afford a much more costly repair the second time?
I agree with you. Just have it in writing eith a signature
With all the good work you’ve done, I probably wouldn’t do it! Disclaimer or not, it could be blamed on the work YOU did!
I would tell them to put a new motor from the factory back in that truck.Because there's no telling how much steel is floating around inside that motor and you will never get it all out
If that piston is not replaced, it’ll eventually detonate the motor
Yes, I would run with it. Customer knows about it. And the crack could’ve been there since the piston was new.
just do it.
yes stop. because in today's world, now that you've discovered cracked pistons you can't guarantee your work and as soon as something else goes wrong like complete engine failure which is right around the corner you're going to be blamed. it would be like setting yourself up because you would be liable. if the man doesn't want to replace the Pistons I would tell him to just take his truck somewhere else.
MAKE EM SIGN THE X AT THE BOTTOM AND TAKE THE MONEY. solved
he said a budget on a hp pump, 6 pack and a head job.. 😂
would it be cheaper to buy a rebuilt motor.?
All those metal shavings are in the oil as well. It needs to be taken all the way apart, flushed clean and rebearinged. Of course replace the piston.
